Construction commenced on the Beverly Estate, a magnificent residence designed by architect Gordon Kaufmann. The architectural style drew inspiration from European masterpieces and the elegance of French and Italian Riviera villas. Artist Hugo Ballin was commissioned to create stunning interior murals, adding a touch of artistic grandeur to the home. Banker Milton Getz became the initial owner of the estate.

1946

Acclaimed actress Marion Davies acquired the property alongside William Randolph Hearst, marking the beginning of their ownership. The couple initiated an expansion project to enhance the main house, further transforming the estate. Following Hearst's passing in 1951, Marion Davies continued to reside at the estate, leaving her mark on its history.

1976

Leonard Ross purchased the renowned Beverly Estate, making it his own. Over the years, Ross embarked on renovations to enhance and enlarge the property, incorporating modern amenities and reinforcing security measures.

In September, Nicolas Berggruen emerges as the successful bidder and acquires the estate. Berggruen expanded the property by purchasing an adjacent lot, including the original Hearst pool, thus adding significant additional space and acreage. Another neighboring property built in 1954 was also acquired by Berggruen, resulting in the formation of a sprawling compound spanning 5.5 acres.

Throughout its history, the property underwent several name changes, starting as The Getz House and later becoming the Beverly House during the ownership of Marion Davies and William Randolph Hearst. Following their passing, it was known as the Hearst Estate, and in 2022, it was renamed the Beverly Estate, representing its rich historical significance.
